David Sosa

David Sosa (Dominican Republic, style Surrealist)

Born in Dominican Republic, Sosa studied at the National School of Fine Arts (1972-1976). Sosa attended the School of Architecture of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, graduating in 1980.

Sosa has had one-man shows at the Arawak Gallery, UASD, and at the School of Education of Queens College of the City University of New York (1988). He has participated in many group exhibitions in the Dominican Republic and Miami, Florida, both in commercial galleries and in cultural institutions such as the Gallery of Modern Art in Santo Domingo, and Broward Public Library in Florida.

Sosa is a surrealist artist in the classic sense of the movement, but the original imagery of Sosa's paintings and drawings display intricate configurations of intermingling familiar, and unfamiliar, shapes and objects. Sosa creates complicated scenes which can be understood only after careful examination.
